Circus Loft Montreal

Founded in:

2010

Where:

MONTREAL, QUEBEC

Who:

5 live-in roommates can live in the space at a time. These roommates have included circus performers, dancers, acrobats, hula-hoopers, artists, journalists, designers and computer programming beat-boxers.

The Space:

The studio is a 2300 sq.ft. loft in an old theatre space in the heart of Montreal’s Plateau Mont-Royal District. The loft is a co-working, co-living space that is continually going through transformations. The kitchen is found on a stage in the centre of the space over-looking the performance space used for dance, yoga, theatre and a range of workshops.

Loft MANTRA:

You get from the space, what you bring to the space

How it all works:

The space is made-up of the spirit, passion, hard-work and talent of those that inhabit it. Everyone is encouraged to use the space for their practice, to collaborate and to hold events. We have had a number of exciting shows including the Salvador Dali themed circus party as well as our first Show N’ Tell. All of the revenue that comes from the shows goes back into the loft renovation, making it a more beautiful and creative space… You get what you give.

More about the tenants:

The loft has housed a wide range of performers including the amazing acrobat Poncho, video performer and coder Jason, trapeze artist Shannon and the world famous clown Jan (on Letterman at the 1:07 mark)
